The FL5 Type R is way better looking than the FK8 Type R. The FK8 just looks like Hondas take on a WRX STi. It doesn't look like a track car. It looks over styled and like its trying too hard, the FL5 doesnt give that impression. Personally I don't hate the car like the other people, but I am going to be spending my money on the FL5, not the FK8. The Civic Type R is approaching $50k out the door with no markup. I could never pull the trigger on a FWD car over $30-35k. I'd just buy an Elantra N which is 90% of the Civic Type R for $32k. GR Corolla with Performance Package is almost $10k cheaper at ~$40k out the door.

At a first glance, the FL5 I created this a while back for the fk8 and figured others would find this helpful. 2023 Civic Type R, 2002 Honda CR-V //stevenmatchett.github.io/fl5-civic I've been waiting 6 months to drive the new FL5 Civic Type R, and what better way to introduce it to the channel than by comparing it with it's predecessor: 18x8 et 45 mated to 235/40R18 tires. My calculations show the hub to the outside tire wall, and the hub to the inside tire wall dimensions fit inside the factory 19x9.5 dimensions. For 19 inch factory, I calculate 60.5 mm from the hub to the outside wheel surface. For 18 inch aftermarket, I calculate 56 mm from the hub to the outside wheel surface. The spreadsheet can be viewed here (Google Sheets). From what I can see the wheel speed of the FL5 is about 4.65% faster than the FK8 across the board.
